When Chelsea went to Denmark to
face the Danish champion’s, FC Nodjaelland, there are only one thing in their
mind. They want to win as they continue their journey to become the first team
ever to retain the title of champions in Europe. So, they come back with three
points in their hands with the full time score line 4-0. But that not tell us
the full story.
Yes, Chelsea win the game with 4-0.
But let us face the truth. The first goal came as result from determined Torres
that robbed the opposition defender, pass to Lampard whose find Mata with
intelligent passing. The second goal was from the set piece. It is unfair to
say that Chelsea did not deserve to win the game or they rode their luck in
their win. But, let be honest. The opposition was the new comer in Champions
League and has been put in pot 4 in the draw. In paper, their strength can
compared as toddler and adult man.
Many people say Chelsea will face
the problem if Torres is out of form or injured in later stages of the
competition. But in Denmark, we have been presented with the real weakness in
Chelsea squad. Yes, Torres was guilty to not score with two clear chances but
they have far more serious thing to improve if they really want to become the
first team to win back to back Champions League cup.

The Danish champions troubled the
champions with one touch passing and retain possession with neat and tidy pass
and if they have world class forward to finish those chances, Chelsea will go
back to Stamford Bridge empty hand. FC Nodjaelland clearly has better control
in midfield. Chelsea may has boosted their squad with four attacking player
which have flair, creativity, quick feat and pace. Their job is to supply the
ball to Torres or whoever will be the striker. But the question now is who will
be supplying the ball to those attacking player?

Lampard is not the natural central
midfielder or the deep lying midfielder. He has been known as box to box
midfielder, roaming forward with perfectly time run. Ramires, who recently
paired with Mikel in the middle, showed some promises but he is not the right
man for the job. He was very good with his bursting run but his passing range
was not that good. Mikel meanwhile has been abused by the fan who were felt
that he was not good enough to be the man that orchestrate Chelsea attack from
behind.
But Mikel has done a splendid job
in his position. He is the one that will do the dirty job in the midfield area.
Most fans of Chelsea hate him but he was probably one of the best defensive
midfielder in the world. The problem now is lying in his partner in the
midfield. Mikel job description is to slow down the game, make dirty tackle,
track back the opposition attacking player and help to protect the back four.
But his partner, should Chelsea prefer to play with 4-2-3-1 will have to
distribute the ball to the attacking player and form a link form defender to
the attacking player. This is the last jigsaw puzzle for Chelsea. Mourinho has
proved this. He only needs one last puzzle to complete his team at Inter Milan,
and we he got Sneidjer, they rule the world.
If Chelsea somehow magically found
this last jigsaw puzzle, they will become one of the most complete team in the
world. It is not the perfect team that will make them win every single game,
but this last jigsaw puzzle will give them chance to compete with any team in
this world.
